Day 24 (Tuesday) – Have You Any Room?

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..”
-1 Peter 3:5

The old hymn entitled “Have You Any Room For Jesus” says this in the chorus:
Room for Jesus, King of Glory!
Hasten now His Word obey;
Swing the heart’s door widely open,
Bid Him enter while you may.

It begs the question of us today – do you have room for Jesus in your crazy busy life, and if so, how much room are you giving him?  Do you rent out that space to him only on the weekends and Sunday or is this a daily, moment by moment relationship?  We live in a very convenient world.  We have apps on our phone that help us with shopping lists and keeping notes, and tracking our daily steps so that we stay in shape.  There are even apps to remind us to have devotions as we attempt to fit all of our business into our day.  But when it is all said and done, beyond our modern conveniences, is there truly room in our hearts for God?  Have we intentionally invited him into our moment by moment existence?  Can we boldly declare that in all things we are giving God praise?

vacancyThe priority here is not witnessing.  That might sound shocking to some of you.  But the very first priority is being holy people.  When we live up to being truly set apart for God, then the outpouring of our hearts will be our testimony and our praise to Him.  Sometimes we are so action oriented and about getting things done and checking another item off of our “to do” list that we forget to simply be in the presence of God.  Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.”  This isn’t some egotistical announcement from God, instead it is a reminder of the very first priority of our life – Keep God first above all other things!  Set apart in your heart a place for Him – in ALL THINGS!  When we place this at the forefront of all that we do, we will find that everything is now viewed through the lens of God – and this will make all of the difference.  Forget about what you will say to others about Jesus…that might sound funny.  But stop worrying about what comes next in your witness to others, and BE in the presence of God – from this will flow your adoration and love so that others will see and believe.

So how about it?
Are you prepared to not only set apart you heart and life to the Lord?  Are you prepared to sit in His presence?  It starts here…have you any room?

Prayer:  Lord, help me to approach this life with the right priorities.  I confess that there are times when I have not made you my first priority.  Help me to invite you into every aspect of my life.  Help me to see that without you I will lose focus and my witness in this crazy world.  Be with me today, I invite you in, and in the empty spaces, Lord fill it with your holy presence.  In your name I pray all of these things.  -Amen.

Day 23 (Monday) Trust Issues…

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Dare I confess that sometimes the paths that I choose lack the presence of God in them. It would seem that I have trust issues.  It is not so much that I distrust God, but rather that I think that I don’t need help, and that I can do it on my own with my own strength.  Have you ever been to this place?  Even though I have felt the effects of leaning on my own understanding in my own stubborn way, God didn’t leave me or abandon me.  He has been there despite my lack of vision and trust.

Thank goodness God is present even when we are not. trust2
Perhaps today you might face daunting tasks that you feel require your strength and your passions alone.  Often times it is at the end of our battle that we quickly realize we need help, and so we cry out to God is desperation.  Have you experienced His love breaking through for you recently?  He will be there for you when you ask Him, but He wants to be more than just your life alert kind of cries for help.  He longs to fellowship with you each step of the way.  When we begin to fully trust God instead of just crying out to Him in emergency situations, we shift gears spiritually, and in this higher gear we will find what we have been missing all along.  His presence and His hand guiding us each step of the way.  When we allow this trust to take place, we will find that although life doesn’t get easier the direction in which He will guide will become clearer to us.

Do you have trust issues with God?
Are you fully relying on His understanding, or do you pull back sometimes and find yourself attempting to do it all in your own strength?  Let Him in, and see what a difference He makes in your life today.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, there are certain things in my life that I struggle giving you access to.  I confess that at times I am stubborn and unwilling to relinquish control over this path that I am on.  Help me to see your hand upon my life, and that I can trust you with everything, not just a portion.  Remind me of your strength, love and peace today even if my day includes storms along this path.  Guide me dear Lord.  In Your name I pray all of these things  -Amen.

Day 17 – Lost And Found!!

“…suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?” Luke 15:8

One of my sons lost something very important to him – his key to his locker.  In that locker was all of his text books for all of his classes.   The night before school, he came to us all stressed out and worried that he wouldn’t find it.  We reassured him that in the morning we would find it together; and so bright and early the next day we got up and searched the house for his missing key.  We searched the basement level and then we came up to the main level and searched.  Finally, in his room, on the floor amongst the cluttered mess of scattered clothing and other knick-knacks we found his lost key.  He was relieved and ready to begin his day with more promise, because what was once lost was now found!

lostThis reminded me of another story. A story that Jesus told.  It was about a woman who had lost one of her ten silver coins.  This may have been all that she owned in the world, and losing just one of those coins would have been devastating to her.  So she tears her house apart looking for this lost coin until she finds it.  Then she calls her neighbors together to celebrate with her.  Jesus told this tale to illustrate just how important every person on this earth is to Him.  He doesn’t want to lose anyone along the way.  In fact, just before this story Jesus told another story – the parable of the lost sheep, and at the very end of that story He said, “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

Imagine that!  Heaven rejoices when the lost is found!
Perhaps that gives us a glimpse as to how important it is to love people around us.
You never know what has happened or is going on in their lives.  Perhaps such a person will cross your path today.   Can you be the very hands and feet of Christ?  Will listen to the Holy Spirit’s promptings as all of Heaven anxiously waits for that one lost soul to be found again?  All it takes is our willingness to say “yes” to the Holy Spirit and bring hope to that poor soul.

So, how about it, will you help with the lost and found today?

Prayer:  Dear Lord, help me to see the people around me today.  May the words I choose to say be a blessing and not a curse to those I meet.  Help me to show Christ’s love with words and actions!  And if you prompt me to talk to someone, give me the words to speak.  Thank you for this blessing and promise of a new day!  In your name I pray all of these things.  -Amen!

Day 11: Walking In The Light

“(Jesus said) ‘I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'” -John 8:12

Picking up from yesterday’s devotional on Finding Hope , I wonder how often we find ourselves in dark places.  I don’t mean some dark alley in an unknown part of town, I mean in those dark moods, in those dark times where all hope does seem lost, whether because of health, family, friends, work etc… Dark times do come.

I remember one time awakening in the middle of night and all of our power was out.  It was pitch dark, and it just so happened to be September 12th, 2001.  As you can recall the horrific events that took place on September 11th.  In our little town, cars were lined up at the pumps because they were afraid something far greater was going to happen.  Those first few days, weeks, months were very dark times.  Many were looking for answers and fear was at the forefront of everyone’s minds…anyway, I digress.  So I awaken in the middle of the night without power, right after this awful, dreadfully dark day.  I stumble around trying to find a flashlight.  I remember tripping over things and eventually stumbling down the stairs in the dark.  Finally, I made my way out to the car in the driveway and flick on the lights.  (I too was afraid something on a national level had happened, which lead to this blackout)  Finally, when I had turned on the lights, orientated myself  I realized that it was only a brief blackout in our neighborhood.  Those moments spent in the dark, were somewhat terrifying to me post Sept 11th.

For a brief moment, I had been living in fear and I was truly in the dark.

I wonder how many Christians still today,  are living in the dark because of fears and uncertainties?  We cannot control the world around us.  It is often turbulent and even violent.  Dangers seem to lurk around the corner, or so we think.  Could it be that a little portion of us needs to take control and we, perhaps do not fully trust God to come to our aid?  I’m not saying that we simply don’t protect our families or neighbors from dangers – of course do that!  But I am wondering if we have our doubts that linger in the back of our minds if God will really be there for us through thick and thin…even in the dark?
light2
Rest assured, Our Heavenly is the Light that we desperately need, and by which ALL THINGS are judged and seen.  God knows what you are going through in your life right now.  He will not leave you are abandon you! We can live in the light no matter what the world around us throws in our direction.  Stand firm and be encouraged today!  God’s got this!

Prayer: Lord, help me with my fears.  We live in a dangerous world.  I want to live for you even if the world around me seems dark.  Cast your light into my life today.  Help me to shine for you in all that I do and say!  In Your name I pray these things.  -Amen.

Day 10:Finding Hope In The Lord!

Whether it is because of gloomy days, or circumstances in life, there are times when we become worn out and run down.  Because of this, our attitudes and even perspectives on life can become bleak or distorted.  Rest assured that you aren’t alone in these feelings.  We all face difficulties, frustrations and even opposition in this life – this is nothing new.
Before David became king of Israel, we find him on the run and afraid for his life.  King Saul was jealous of David and sought to kill him.  He was perceived to be a threat to King Saul because David was a war hero and highly revered in all of Israel.  Imagine having all of those accolades and notoriety but still having to run for your life?!  You would think that because of those circumstances David’s perspectives on life would have become bleak and gloomy, but they didn’t.  He remained steadfast even while in hiding.  Even amidst David’s trials he managed to have this perspective:

 “God! Look! Enemies past counting!hope2
Enemies sprouting like mushrooms,
Mobs of them all around me, roaring their mockery:
“Hah! No help for him from God!”

3-4 But you, God, shield me on all sides;
You ground my feet, you lift my head high;
With all my might I shout up to God,
His answers thunder from the holy mountain.” (Psalm 31-4 The Message Version)

Regardless of what you might be facing today, there is hope!
Shout to God.
Cry out to Him.
He will hear you!
He will be your shield on every side of you as well!
No matter how dark your day might seem, God’s light can shine on you and bring you hope and peace!  Cling to this!  Seek Him out, and He will lift your head!

Prayer: Dear Lord, there are days when the gloom and stress of it all encompass me.  Remind me of your very real presence in my life today.  Shine your light on these sometimes dark circumstances around me.  Strengthen me and be my shield.  In You, Oh Lord do I put my trust and in Whom do I find my joy and hope!  My Your will be done in my life today!  In Christ’s name I pray these things.  -Amen.

3 Vitals About This Life…

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”  James 4:14

Life is so fragile and brief.
As we get older it seems that things just seem to speed up like a run away train on a track that isn’t finished yet.  We keep plodding along thinking that the line is still hundreds of miles away, yet it’s only a couple of miles down along the bend.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NLZCLKppZs

Sometimes life isn’t what we thought it would be…yet we had clung to the notion that it would be awesomely amazing when we grew up…only to discover that life is what you make of it, it takes a lot of work and hard decisions.  Life can be pleasantly insulated by friends, family, children – and this makes the journey, because that’s what life truly is, a journey – so much more enjoyable and treasured.

Here’s what I know about this life so far…I’ve been pondering this for some time now…and i know that there are far more wiser people out there than me, but let me try to articulate what I know about life so far, perhaps this will resonate or at least make sense to you.

3 Vitals About This Life…

1.  We don’t get to choose how many days of life we have…
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” -Psalm 90:12
This life IS temporal, and we don’t live forever in this body.  Does the spirit live forever, that’s what we have been told and what I believe, but this shell will one day give out and stop working…and so will yours.  Sounds kinda depressing doesn’t it?  I know…but in the grand scheme of things, there is a far better – longer lasting existence waiting for us.  A life where there will no longer be this barrier between us and the Almighty.  A place where we will no longer suffer from disease and the aches and pains of life.  I can’t even begin to imagine that yet, but we must, at some point, come to terms with the limited nature of this life.  We don’t get to choose the length of our lives.  God does give and take away, He is sovereign over our very breath, and I have to believe without a shadow of a doubt that we deeply matter to Him.

2.  This life is like a mist, really it’s not that long – make the most of it.
As James puts it, “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”  (James 4:14)  Have you ever seen that fog in the early morning?  It’s so mysterious and wispy, just hanging there.  It’s dangerous to drive into, but you know that in a little while, as soon as the Sun starts to shine on it, that fog will dissipate and vanish.  It’s a great analogy of life isn’t it?  This vital understanding of how brief our life really is puts it into perspective.  Don’t waste your life.  Make memories.  Don’t get so caught up in things that don’t really matter much – even (or especially) work can become one of those things.  When it is all said and done, will you be known for getting those reports in on time?  Will you really want to be remembered for the labored hours you spent in the office, even during family vacations and nights when you should have been home with your kids?  NO!  I think a lot of people will be living with regret in the late stages of life.  Success in business doesn’t always equate to making the most out of your life and what really, truly matters.  Are you really living life right now, or are you just plodding?  It’s like that fog in the early morning…far too soon it will dissipate and vanish.  Don’t take it for granted, don’t waste it on things that don’t really matter.  Invest in the right kinds of things and in people who care and love you.

3.  Some people with less of a life span live a whole lot more than some with a much longer life span…what you make of it matters…

This directly correlates with the last vital point…I met some who are simply coasting through life.  They have no real purpose, they aren’t happy with anything, they are miserable people to be around.  These people (not to sound condescending, but rather a warning here) are just hoping the next life will be better, but they really aren’t living the one they have been given right here and now.  It’s such a waste…have you live this at some point in your life?  Do you know what I mean?  Some people have been given such a short life due to illness, disease or accident, and they lived it to the fullest.  They were full of vigor and passion and it just seem to pour out of them – it was contagious.  I hope we live like that with whatever time we have in this body.  I hope we can laugh and love and cry and experience life in all of its glory.  I never want to be one who merely looks forward to heaven, yet I miss out on, or waste this gift of life I have been given right here and now.
Some of us bury ourselves in elements of life and distractions of life…and then we look up from our cell phones and our social media accounts and miss the beauty of nature all around us.  Don’t miss it.  Don’t miss the glory of God, which is evident all around us.  Soak it in, notice it, embrace it, spend some of your “mist” time just breathing it in.  Life isn’t life unless you’re actually an active participator in it.

I’ve had some peers and friends of mine pass way before their time.  Their life seemed like a brief mist…and sadly gone too soon.  I’ve even performed a couple of their funerals as the Pastor…it isn’t easy, it breaks the heart and it later causes me to think more deeply as to what I am doing with my life – this mist that I am.  Have you been there?  Can you relate?   What I do know is that our journeys have a destination that extends beyond the veil of life and death…and the next life begins with the glory embrace of Christ.  And although I long for that day, I don’t want to mist miss this moment right here and now, where everything and everyone that is important and precious becomes crystal clear.  When that happens to you…what and who do you see?

To God be the glory!

International Day of the Girl…So Far To Go…

Today is an important day!!
Perhaps you didn’t know it was today…perhaps you didn’t really even care.

But…
There is a movement out there that I believe we should all be a part of…it is the movement to ensure all girls around the world have access to education and employment!  That girls from whatever corner of the earth is treated with the same equality that boys her age receive.  This movement must grow and enter every corner of the world.  We must push this movement and ensure that regardless of race, ideology and culture  ALL girls & women are treated with equality, freedom and fairness.

This is not the case in many places of our world.  girl2
Almost all religions are guilty of suppressing female – some are still in the ideological dark ages where women are treated as property.  This cannot continue!  We must fight against such ideologies with education and compassion!  We must stand up for those girls in our world who still have no voice in their culture.   If we truly believe that all people matter, and all are equal – we cannot rest until all girls have the freedom to grow up to be whatever they want to be and are not restrained by archaic religious practices and teachings bent of controlling those they teach.

I have a daughter, she is the light of my life, and she has access to education – and I hope, with her parent’s help, we will give her every opportunity to succeed in life and she can aspire to be whoever she wants to be…but I also know that there are millions of girls like my daughter out there in the world today who will never have these same opportunities that she has.  And these girls will have these amazing dreams to be and do something, but the society that they live in will prohibit their dreams and limit their access to the resources they will need to succeed.

girl3I am just one father, one parent – but I stand with this International Day of Girls because I know that we can make a difference for ALL.  It may take years, but we mustn’t give up.  We mustn’t quit on those who are currently voiceless and without choices in life.

I believe in a God who created both Male and Females to live equally together in this world.  I believe we must empower this generation of girls to dream big and live it out until those dreams become a reality.  I also believe that if we work together, and if we persevere, we will better the lives of girls all around the world!

Let’s turn dreams into realities!

In Perfect Peace…

You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.
-Isaiah 26:3

Can I make a confession?
There are many times where my mind is not as steadfast as it should be.
Many times I become distracted by life.  The ebb and flow of problems seem to mount and I find myself anything but steadfast.  My mind drifts to the chaos of it all.  My mind forgets to look to the source of all of life’s strength and power…and I begin to sink.

Peter started to sink because he doubted. peter
He doubted that he could really pull of this feat of doing what Jesus did – walk on water.
He doubted his own abilities…perhaps a part of him doubted Christ too…
His eyes drifted away from Jesus…
He looked at his own feet, his own heart, his own insecurities, and fear caused him to sink into those murky depths.

I am a lot like Peter…
some days, perhaps I am even like the rest of the disciples still standing in the boat…not moving, not chancing anything, just watching.

Perfect Peace?
I need that perfect peace in my life, do you?
I am in need of a steadfast mind, holding firm to Christ in my often turbulent life.
Can you relate to this?
Are you sometimes still in the boat with me and the other disciples, just watching Peter sink?  peace2

Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me with my “steadfastness”…because many times I am anything but steadfast.  Often times I get swept away with the problems of life, and I cannot find my footing any longer.  Lord, guide my path.  I long to rest in your presence.  I desire your perfect peace in my stormy life.  I am weary, and I wish to take upon your yoke in my life.  Help me to trust you.  Allow me to venture out of the boat and to walk where you impossibly walk, because with You all things are possible!  Lead me Lord! -Amen.

An Overwhelming Victory?

“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 8:37-39

No matter what the world throws at us, we can discover true victory in Christ Jesus, because this temporary realm in which we now live will one day pass away and the eternal will be everlasting!  This means that despite Satan’s best efforts, and the sufferings of the flesh, if we can overcome – He can not touch our souls, for that belongs to God!

Do you feel discouraged today?
Are you, or have you experienced physical or emotional defeat?  Sometimes we face these battles in life, and the Christian experience was never guaranteed to be easy (in fact just the opposite).  Yet through all of this, we have promises like the passage listed above.  We will NOT be separated from God…He will never separate us from His love!  We will have overwhelming victory because of Christ!  pain

So no matter what you are going through today…
No matter what kinds of persecution or sufferings you may face…
Regardless of ridicule, scorn, malice, hate, violence, jealousy and rage – we can experience this overwhelming victory TODAY!!!

We do not have to wait until we see eternity and we are with the Lord, no – His presence, His love, His encouragement is available to us NOW!  Begin to see that despite the battle waging here within the world and upon our flesh, God already stands beside us with the victory over life and death!  Know that regardless of the physical outcome – we will overcome and have this overwhelming victory!  This is why we must share this fantastic news to all the world.  This is why God’s grace must be evident in our living.  This is why we must make His ministry Our ministry everyday, because God wants all people, from all walks of life to experience this overwhelming victory!

focusIn Focus
Perhaps, if we cannot see this overwhelming victory today it is because we are focusing on the wrong kinds of things.  Yes, life is often unfair.  Yes, the world is often unjust and evil seems to permeate and seep into every facet of life.  We see these, we know this to be true, and we cry foul and lament all of these atrocities and injustices – and rightly we should.  But, despite this fallen world and all of its sins, we need to refocus our vision.  We must begin to change our perspective (which doesn’t mean we simply accept that this world is beyond saving).  Our perspective begins to change when we ask God to give us His vision for the people we meet.  What I mean is, we must ask Him to allow us to see those around us the way God sees them.

Secondly, our perspective must change in the way we view the temporal.  Yes we livefocus2 through it, but there must be a way for us to live this overwhelming victory in the here and now…and we do that by understanding it.   In our understanding of what this life is all about – Whose we are and embracing the eternal here and now, we flip the script on what “living”is all about!  When we change our perspective, we change the narrative of our souls.  What I mean by that is – we no longer simply live for ourselves, we begin to live for Christ.  Many times this is a gradual denial of self as we surrender to the will of God.  It begins with the little things of life.  Soon, as we allow these little spiritual victories to occur, we will be more inclined to seek out the larger “denial of self” moments.

Is anyone there yet?
victory2Some of may be.
I know that I am on this road…although I am not as far along as I would like to be…but again, this is gradual.  Admittedly, I still get sucked into life’s many troubles.  It is like a swift moving current at times which sweeps out my feet from right under me.  I recognize that I too must still change more of my perspective in order to experience this daily dose of overwhelming victory in my life.

How about you?
Do you feel defeated right now?
Are you struggling to see any measure of victory at the moment?
Ask God to help you flip this script.
Ask Him to provide you with an added measure of His strength.
Also, ask Him to grant you His vision for those you encounter…I guarantee your perspective will change, and with it overwhelming victory!

You’re a Liar, I’m a Liar – Here’s Why…

Whether we care to admit it or not, we are liars.
Go ahead, soak it up, take it in…
Some of you are probably offended by this accusation.
Some of you might be nervous – don’t be.

The Lies
The biggest lie that we tell ourselves is this:  “I don’t need God.”
The second biggest lie that we tell ourselves is: “every thing is okay.”
And then there are those lies that we tell God – “Lord I promise if you get me out of this situation I will never do that (insert whatever “that” is here) again!”  Or, we go to the altar at some fancy big church event and confess our sins in a big emotional altar call and make promises that only last that weekend…in essence we lie because deep down we know we don’t plan on changing.
lies
We also lie to God by telling Him that He’s the only God in our lives, but let me ask you, how many hours a day do you spend on the internet or on social media?  How many hours a day watching tv, netflix etc…?  Are there other things that consume all of your time?  Are there things that you would shamefully admit that you’re obsessed with?  Now, there’s nothing wrong with any of this stuff, but when we spend hours and hours and hour a day gaming or web surfing or whatever – we have become consumed, and when we become consumed by something other than God – we have essentially set up idols to false gods in our lives.  Basically, whatever takes the place of God – becomes our god…and we are then liars who claim we know God, but rather, we only know of God.

1 John 1:8-10 says; “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

God Doesn’t LieGod
What God says – He means.
What He says He will do – He will do.
God doesn’t break His promises to us – We are usually the ones who break our promises to Him.  Do we need Him?  Absolutely, and yet our ego at times convinces us that we can go it alone and we don’t need Him to “interfere”.   Don’t lie to God, He’s not fooled.  Also, don’t lie to yourself!

stopStop The Lies
So what’s the point?
Do some soul searching in your life today.
Be humble,.in other words, put yourself low, look hard and deep at your own life right now – without any sugar coating or facades (which are lies that you have told yourself).

– Another lie we might hear in our minds from time to time is this:  “I am not good enough to be called a Child of God, (or to be called a “Christian”)” We might buy into that lie because of guilt and shame, but God’s grace through Jesus Christ can remove that guilt and shame completely – making us totally covered by grace and completely forgiven!  Don’t buy this lie anymore!!  God loves you, and He wants you to know how valuable you are to Him!

We tell ourselves a lot of lies…and sometimes we start to believe them.
We also try and tell God lies too…but we aren’t fooling Him, He knows.

honestBe Honest.
Allow the Lord access to every part of your mind today…even the spaces in the recesses of your mind that you are ashamed of.  He already knows, but we have to let Him in and allow His light to shine onto those dark, shameful places in order for healing, true healing to take place.  Admittedly, this is a work in progress for all of us.  There will be times when we lie, or believe a lie in our minds again.  But the next time that happens, recognize it and within that recognition, plot and strive to change that behavior.  Ask God to help you in those moments!  True sincerity and admission/penitence moment by moment allow us access to God, and it also provides us with tangible spiritual growth.

prayPray.
Lord, I confess my lies to you today.
Lies that I have told, and the lies that I have believed about myself.
I am weakened by these lies, but I know that with your strength I can be whole again!
Walk beside me today Lord, reveal to me the moments of my dishonesty to you and to those I come in contact with.  Convict me when I live double-mindedly.  Lord, I do not want this barrier to remain between us.  I know this has stunted my spiritual growth, and I desire to be closer to you.  Lead me Lord, I desire to give all there is of me to you – even those spaces in my life and mind that I am ashamed of.  Wash me clean again.  -Amen.
